Victor Tarasuk’s Vietnam War Service

Victor Tarasuk served as a U.S. Marine Corps Ontos crewman during the Vietnam War. With Company A, 1st Antitank Battalion, he supported Marine infantry operations near Chu Lai and Da Nang, providing convoy security, patrol support and direct fire against enemy positions.

Victor Tarasuk’s Service Memorial preserves the story of a young Marine who served in intense combat operations across South Vietnam. On December 22, 1966, his Ontos struck a concealed enemy land mine near Da Nang, taking his life at only 20 years old. His memorial ensures that his courage, service and ultimate sacrifice will be remembered by generations to come.
