Roy Fontane’s
World War II Service

Roy Fontane served in the infantry with Company B, 169th Regiment, 43rd Infantry Division during World War II. He fought on New Georgia in 1943, enduring brutal ground combat in dense and brutal jungle terrain. Fontane helped seize and secure Munda Airfield in sustained combat operations against Japanese forces.

Roy Fontane’s Service Memorial

Roy Fontane’s son, John, came to us knowing little about his dad’s World War II service, only that he never spoke much about what he experienced in the Pacific. Through detailed research, we uncovered his story and translated it into a clear, visual Service Memorial. For the first time, his family can now understand, preserve, and share the full scope of Roy’s service and sacrifice.
