Jessie Wright stormed Omaha Beach on D-Day as a U.S. Army telephone operator, landing under fire to establish vital communications. Fighting through Normandy, France and into Germany, he helped carry the Allied advance across Europe and witnessed the war’s end firsthand in 1945.

Cliff Wright, Jessie Wright’s grandson, came to us wanting to uncover his grandfather’s full World War II story for their family. Jessie’s son, pictured here, had long tracked his father’s service but never knew the full scope of it. We finally filled in those missing chapters for the Wright family.
